We called the owner with concern that there wass a leak in the master bath on Wednesday and did not hear from them until the Saturday. $90 was withheld from our deposit for them having to call a serviceman to come and look. Repairs were done to the toilet (seal was replaced) and we were charged for the repairs. That is not where the leak was. We know there is an underlying problem and was trying to give her a heads up. She is encouraging people to be dishonest and not report problems for fear of damage deposit problems. Do not stay here....it was also very dirty. and run down.

Even if it was a toilet issue, why would a renter be charged for what is usually considered normal wear and tear?  Can you provide a direct link of where this home is advertised on the Internet?

We got it off www.gulfcoastrentals.com. I totally agree. The leak we initially thought was from the shower and that one of our kids didn't quite close the door properly. I mopped up the water on the carpet and it continued to get wetter and wetter. We even went as far as placing papertowel by the shower door and it was always dry. When we went outside and downstairs to the carport, you could see a hole in the ceiling approximately where we saw the leak upstairs. It had been patched many times in the past, we could see the plaster marks. The owner did not even come by for us to explain anything. She just charged us for an unwarrented service visit, yet the guy did some repairs to the toilet and some electrical work while he was there. (we were not charged for the electrical work) She basically charged us for the visit, the seals for the toilet and the labour involved.
