Beware of Rick Freeman advertising vacation rentals in NY with phone number 646-873-9656.
The real owner of that property has released this statement " I live in Manhattan and have had a steady stream of tourists arrive at my door, luggage in hand, expecting me to give them the keys to my home."
This alleged criminal goes by the names of Rick Freeman and Rick Anderson, but I'm sure he has other aliases -- has been advertising my home on the Internet and scamming people for thousands of dollars.  DO NOT PAY FOR A VACATION RENTALS VIA WESTERN UNION OR MONEY-GRAM!!! And remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I was scammed by Rick Freeman in December...after that i researched and found that he has many names --female and male that IT goes by.  You never can get anyone on the phone when you call the number.  I've learned if you cannot ever speak to them on the phone then do not rent just by email.

Were you ever able to get your money back from this vacation rental scam?  If so, how did you go about doing it?  Have you reported this scam to the local authorities?

No I did not recover our money.  We did file reports to the authorities and others but was never contacted back about it.  I know he/she scammed alot of money out of many people last year over the December month.

I am very familiar with this scam and I can assure you that there are several people currently working on it.  There is still a possibility that some money may be recovered and given back to the victims.

True enough. Before deciding on anything, I always remember the quote above.
