I'm thinking about offering some refreshments for my visitors when they arrive and adding it to my Website to attract more business. Does anyone else do this type of thing?
I've been doing little things like this for quite some time and you'd be amazed how much people love it. I think because we live in such a fast paced world and little care from others, it really means a lot to the guests. I offer refreshments when they arrive a couple times through the week and when my guests leave. I also provide a home cooked meal each day, it'a real winner for my clients and I stay booked.
Josten,
My husband and I have rented all over the world for many years. We have never had a truly horrible experience but some have been better than others. In our experience, an owner who thinks enough of their guests to leave refreshments is an owner who takes good care of their property. The two seem to go hand in hand.
We recently returned from a 10 day stay in Dijon where we rented a beautiful studio. The apartment itself was a wonder and the goodies that came with it put it over the top. The owner, Coco, stocked the refrigerator with eggs, milk, cheeses, mustard, butter, ham, jam, orange juice and fruit. The pantry was stocked with cereal, coffee, tea, sugar, salt, spices and honey. A baguette was on the bread board. I am sure I forgot to name a few items. There were fresh flowers in a vase, the dining table was set for two complete with a plate of homemade brownies. I cannot describe what an impression this made on us. The comfort and amenities of the apartment followed suit. We had a fabulous time and will go back...the sooner the better. Coco's website www.myhomeindijon.com indicates that refreshments will be provided. She even includes a food preference questionnaire with her contract.
I am not suggesting that you provide all of the above as Coco sets the bar very high. To answer your question, it does make a difference in a potential renters first impression.
Wow - this owner knows how to set a standard! First impressions are remarkably important and this sounds like the owner strives to make it an unforgettable one. For our winter rentals we leave a range of hot chocolate mixes and cookies, and also light the woodstove and make sure the hot tub is up to temperature. After reading this, I will think some more about our welcome basket.
