Re: Beware of Las Vegas Vacation Home by Reo Hope

Hello, we recently went to Las Vegas on holiday and booked to stay in a villa owned by 'Reo Hope'! We were going on holiday for two weeks and were stayin at his villa for the last 4 nights! he demanded that we paid all of the money up front in October so we did and the day before we were set to fly off to Vegas he cancelled our booking and said there was a plumbing problem!

Since we got back we have tried in vain to get a refund but he is ignoring our calls and emails!

do u have any advice or more information?

I think that you should let the vacation home owner know that if he does not give you your money back you will report him to local and federal agencies.  And that you will also start informing the public about this occurance by posting complaints on vacation rental forums, www.vrwd.org, and the local bbb.

    Good Luck!

    My Name is Gayle Hope.

I co-own this property with Reo Hope.

To the best of my knowledge, Reo Hope has refunded everyone that resulted from our plumbing problems.

I will elaborate on what happened. Our Rental Home has 90,000 dollar Pool Spa & Misting system.

One of the reason people rent our home, is because of this feature. Unfortunately, we had a renter

take out our creepy crawly, while it was on, and just left it to  sucked up the desert dry air  for a solid week, this melted the pipes inside

the pool and spa, leaving the pool and spa totally shut down.   This cost us thousands of dollars since, neglect is not covered by, our pool warranty

nor is it covered by our home owner insurance.  At the time, this happened we didn't have 10k sitting in our bank to cover this expense.

We refunded everyone who had the house booked  during the time that this happened until it was repaired. We would

of like to refunded The money much earlier, but we had to go to the back, to arrange the financing for refunding and repairing the pool.

We have rented this home, for three years now, and this is the first time, we've had renters pull the creepy

crawly out of the pool while leaving it on.  In our wildest dreams, we didn't think this would happen.

In good faith we refunded everyone.  I would very much be surprised, if someone is claiming they have

not been refunded.  It tooks us  a while  but we refunded everyone.

This was a bad situation,  we our out thousands of dollars in repairs and lost

rental revenue.   We did have a couple from the United Kingdom, who didn't want us to refund them via

the credit card they had  originally paid with. However, after researching UK chargeback laws, we against the renters will, refund

their money via their orignal form of payment.  That is the only  person who has given us grief about this situation.

I believe ths is the person who has wrote to you.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MAN. Same thing happened to us--literally HOURS before. Reo Hope said he refunded the money, but never did. Never returned any phone calls, either. Thankfully the charge card company refunded our money. He must be hip to this scam. Perhaps the charge card company doesn't go after him for such small amounts and he knows that.

I DON'T THINK SO GAYLE. Your husband told us that the KITCHEN was ruined because of plumbing problems NOT THE POOL. AND he NEVER REFUNDED OUR MONEY.

    Gayle

We too stayed at your home this summer and arrived shortly after your creepy-crawly fiasco in July.   At the time we were very sympathetic to your troubles, we put up with a lot during our stay ( the pool without a filtration sytem became a health hazard by the end of our stay)  and did not complain.  We left the house in good order and even washed the majority of the linen (at your husbands request) before leaving.   However I am furious that Reo has not yet returned our deposit back after countless requests

While it is possible you had no idea he was not returning tenants' deposits, by your own admission on this site you are a co-owner, and you are therefore liable to prosecution along with him.  Anyway this is to let you know that I e-mailed him last night to say I will be sending both your names and your residential home details to a professional debt collection agency in Las Vegas this Thursday if I have not received this money back by then.

In the interest of fairness, further to my posting last week I have now received my deposit back from Reo.    Smile
