Hi,
I'm a new condo owner in Destin. My first guest arrived last week, and has been calling me with problems with the units on either side. Apparently, smokers are staying in both units (mine is non-smoking). One set of guests spends the whole day chain smoking on the patio (where the beach is), and the other set is smoking in the condo, with a window open. My guest is getting bombarded at both ends of the building, and can't open any doors or windows. Apparently the smoke is filtering into my unit, and it smells pretty bad, especially in the master bedroom and bath.
I contacted both the owner and management company, and neither have been helpful, saying no one is breaking any rules. Is my only option to sell my unit and get the hell out? I don't want to be surrounded by smokers either, and a vacation home where I have to keep the doors and windows shut is not my idea of a good time.
I think I understand how you feel. Why not try chatting with them and hopefully reach a compromise? Hopefully, they understand your situation and do something about their habits.
Have you considered placing air purifiers inside your home?
